Keep Calm and Keep Stitching!

Our weekly helpings of Stitching have been wild and exhubarant! The preparations into Crochet Relief are racing along with chatter about Chain stitches, Doubles and Trebles. Joanne joined us to give me a bitesized session on the basics. Crochet seems to be the most saught after craft, so many people have contacted KNS from the website www.buckspoint.org.uk/kns or from seeing this blog asking how they can learn the art of crochet. Of course there are some amazing resources out there, from on the shelf magazines, to books in the local library and the King of all learning resources - video tutorials online. Crochet is such a fulfilling art, the work grows quickly and once you have grasped the basic stitches your imagination holds no limits. Recently I met a lovely young mum, whom was self taught and was now running up the most lovely crocheted garments for children. So what have you got to loose, get yourself down to your local craft shop for a size 3 or 4 hook and some yarn. I can recommend Elaine at The Knitting Basket in Fenny Stratford and Sue at HCS Crafts in Stony Stratford . They both offer beautiful stock and Elaine is running Crochet groups in her shop, so ask for more details. And of course you must join us to raise money for Red Nose Day at Crochet Relief on Monday 11th March 7:45 - 10:00pm In New Bradwell Community Centre, where we will be learning to Crochet a Red Nose. There will be Crochet Relief packs available with yarn, how to guides for beginners and googly eyes. If your experienced in Crochet, why not bring some of your work along???? All £2.50 entry fee's on the evening will be donated to Red Nose Day and proceeds from the cake sale too. Eleanor Cooper's beautiful work featured here. During our KNS sessions we have seen an increase in Quilt and patchworkers, Sam George brought along a Seaside themed Quilt to work on and her completed wall hanging to show us. Judi is working on cutting out pieces for her project too. Lesley Venneker spent her session pre Valentine's Day making a Rose for her hubby using two pairs of boxers, some Lush soap and a plastic tube - See we really do get creative at KNS! Happy Stitching!
